Welcome!

When I think of the word "nesting" I think of a woman preparing her home for her new baby. When I moved down to New Orleans from New York with my now husband and we moved in with each other for the first time, I found myself having this desire to create a home. Being a Cali girl married to a NOLA boy, our tastes are surprisingly similar, but building our home together has and continues to be an adventure!

Small Human, Big Footprint!

OK, we're at 3 1/2 months with a baby... I knew they came with a lot of baggage (literally), but we were bursting at the seams pre-baby... what to do now?

Stroller, infant carrier, bouncy seat, swing, play mat, bumbo, high chair (in the box ready for use soon), books, toys, baby.  I've decided to re-work the office area to be a combined space, since we mainly use it for storage now anyways.  Currently the layout looks like this:

Surprise, surprise... all that extra "space" you see is filled with stuff!  So here's what I'm thinking for a new layout:

The joy of Ikea is that my desk and storage console can be broken up (we had to fit it in the car somehow, and that was buying smaller pieces and putting them together).  On the bay window side, we'll have an office area for adult things, like computer, printer, file cabinet, etc.  On the other side we'll have a kid-friendly space.  Storage console will hold baskets with toys and other baby-related things.  We'll put a small table and small chair in the middle of the end wall, and across from the storage we'll create a little reading corner.  And can't forget about Ramona's dog bed right in the middle with a view of the family room.  She's been hanging out in that spot anyways, so we figured we can make it officially hers!

I'm Back!

I knew it had been a while since I've blogged here... but wow, 5 months?  Hello, slacker!  Well, I've been working on a few somethings that have been keeping me very occupied.  What's that you ask?  Well let me tell you!

In my professional life:

I'm now a Realtor for Gardner Realtors!  The great thing about Gardner is that I have the ability to help people connect with reputable, well known agents throughout the world for their real estate needs.  Even further, I'm working with a local, family-owned company that trains, develops, and supports their agents as if they're all family!  I've got a website that I've been building that you can search for properties to buy or lease in Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi: www.amymeza.gardnerrealtors.com

Also, you can follow me on Facebook... www.facebook.com/amymezarealtor
I recommend you like my page whether you live in the NOLA area or not because I post articles and design ideas, as well as hold contests!

 OK, my personal life:
No, I did not eat too much king cake during Mardi Gras (well I did, but that's not the reason for the belly)... Hubby and I are expecting a BOY in June 2014!!!  This was me (and my laundry hamper) at 25 weeks.  I'm now almost 28 weeks... time is flying by!

So why am I back on the blog?  Well, I'm excited to share my real estate journey, as well as continue to share similar posts as before.  But wouldn't it be great to also get staging ideas if you're selling your vacant home?  Or how to downsize and make small spaces efficient?  Or do some home design for your new home on a DIY budget?  I'll be happy to share how my posts can be relevant to different home situations, whether you rent or own :)

I'm looking forward to being back!
